About
This started out as a prepper, TEOTWAWKI blog, back in 2008 when it truly looked (to me at least) as if the world as we knew it was over. (And it’s been a mystery to me ever since why more people didn’t appreciate the significance of $147/barrel oil.)
Obviously, since then the world has gone on pretty much the way it was before (at least for those fortunate enough to have a job). And so this has become more of a general-purpose place to record my thoughts, with an emphasis on gardening, climate change, getting ready to live without electricity and other external inputs, and physical fitness (a neglected but vital part of prepping). But nothing is off limits. I like writing and this is my place to do it.
I also want to record what we did and when we did it. When did I buy firewood last summer? When did we get the garden in? When did we start picking dandelions in the Spring? When were the last and first frosts?
My family consists of me, born in 1955, my wife (M), born in 1965, and two sons, one born in 2002 (G), the other in 2004 (D). We also have three cats, two dogs, and chickens.
